A Spooky-Cute BooDay!
Having a birthday that falls on a holiday can be fun, but can also be irritating. On one hand, you feel a sense of your day being extra special and celebrated by so many, but on the other hand, depending on which holiday it falls on, people have other plans or traditions that somehow overshadow your day.
Mine falls on a certain day in the summer which is also known as our nations birthday. While this day stirs up lots of opinions and even controversy (what doesn’t these days), you can bet your butt this day will be slathered in red, white, blue, and flags. I have no problem with that regarding symbols of this national holiday, but imagine being in your 40s and EVERY SINGLE birthday party is decorated the SAME. Last year, I even requested “Please, no red, white, blue, or flags for my birthday” only to walk into what looked like Uncle Sam, himself, exploded onto the scene. I was so annoyed. Still, is it selfish of me to ask others to decorate with what I want on a national holiday? Perhaps. Sooo…
This year, I made it known - I’m ok with being selfish for my birthday. I’m not asking for much, just make it “Summerween”. And so it was. {insert happy dance}
