Summerween-inspired recipes to add a spooky twist to your summer celebrations.
Lucky for you, I don’t have some long backstory about childhood memories of making spooky treats in the kitchen with Grandma for you to scroll past in order to get to the goods. These are simply five fun and easy treats to bring in a little spooky inspiration during these hot summer days. (The last one is insanely easy.)

Mummy Hot Dogs
Ingredients:
- Hot dog sausages
- Puff pastry dough
- Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven according to the puff pastry dough instructions.
2. Roll out the puff pastry dough and cut it into thin strips.
3. Wrap each hot dog sausage with the strips of puff pastry dough, leaving a small gap near one end for the "mummy face."
4. Place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet and bake them according to the puff pastry dough instructions, or until golden brown.
5. Use mustard or ketchup to create eyes on the exposed part of the hot dog for the mummy face effect.
6. Serve warm as a spooky snack.
Wicked Witch Guacamole
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Tortilla chips for serving
Instructions:
1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a bowl.
2. Mash the avocado with a fork until desired consistency is reached.
3. Add the diced onion, minced jalapeño pepper, minced garlic clove, lime juice, salt, and pepper to the mashed avocado. Mix well.
4. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
5. Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl and create a "witch's face" on top using additional diced onions, black olives, or chopped tomatoes.
6. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
Monster Eye Caprese Skewers
Ingredients:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Fresh mozzarella balls
- Basil leaves
- Black olives (pitted)
- Balsamic glaze (optional)
- Skewers
Instructions:
1. Thread one cherry tomato, one mozzarella ball, and one basil leaf onto each skewer.
2. Cut the pitted black olives in half and place one half on top of each cherry tomato to resemble a "monster eye."
3. Arrange the skewers on a serving platter.
4. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the skewers for an extra touch, if desired.
5. Serve as a fun and spooky appetizer.
Spiderweb Pizza
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Black olives (pitted)
- Cherry tomatoes (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven according to the pizza dough instructions.
2. Roll out the pizza dough into a round shape on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
3. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
5. Use pitted black olives to create a spiderweb pattern on top of the cheese.
6. Add cherry tomatoes or basil leaves as additional garnish, if desired.
7. Bake the pizza according to the pizza dough instructions, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
8. Slice and serve the spiderweb pizza as a festive main dish.
Easy Vampire Donuts
Ingredients:
- A dozen donuts of your choice
- Plastic Vampire Fangs
- Edible Eyeballs
Instructions:
Pop those fangs into the donut hole. Add eyeballs. Get creative and enjoy the easiest spooky treat ever!
